adventura everest base camp trek we are offering three treks this year, two to everest base camp (ebc), annapurna base camp (abc) and mera peak: the highest treatable peak in nepal. the first is 16 day, kathmandu to lukla from where we trek to ebc and kalapatar and back to lukla to fly back to kathmandu. the second is the same as the first but instead of flying out from lukla we carry on down with an “eye opening” flight to lukla at 2800 metres. the trek passes through the picturesque sherpa village of namche bazaar to gorakshep culminating in the ascent of kalapattar (5545m) from where classic views of everest and its surrounding peaks are visible. most of the trek is spent above altitudes of 3000m in the khumbu and imja valleys whose skylines are dominated by the massive peaks of the eastern himalayas. although this trek is a short trek (unless you take the extended trek to sotang!), by nepal standards, there will be plenty of time to enjoy the culture of the sherpas, visit ancient monasteries and learn how lamaistic buddhism influences sherpa life. stop at any of the numerous tea houses, sip a glass of sweetened tea or chang (millet beer) and get a taste of the fauna itinerary day 1 : arrive in kathmandu (1370m), met by an member and transferred to hotel day 2 : preparation day in kathmandu . day 3 : fly to lukla (2800m) and then trek to monjo (2840m) distance 10km, ascend 258m, descend 218m, duration 5/6 hrs early morning flight to lukla which was built with the help of sir edmond hillary and his friends to service the everest region when he began his work of building schools and hospitals for the sherpa people. here you will meet the rest of the adventura expedition crew then start the trek to monjo. this follows the dudhkoshi river the whole day. the trail has many slight ups and downs. lunch will be served on the way at phakding – dinner and overnight at lodge in monjo. day 04 : trek to namche bazaar (3440m) distance 4.5km, ascend 559m, descend 50m, duration 3/4 hrs after breakfast, the trek starts with slight ups and down following the same river for an hour and then the trek starts stiffer ascents until we reach namche bazaar, the next lodge. namche bazaar is the gateway of the whole khumbu region – their are trekking shops, internet services, laundry services and even a bakery available. lunch, dinner and overnight at lodge in namche bazaar. day 05 : acclimatisation day in namche bazaar today, there is the option of staying in the lodge and hanging around the market town or hike up to everest view hotel (3800m) and khumjung village (3790m) – a 4 hour round trip, depending on your physical condition. overnight at same lodge. day 06 : trek to tengboche (3867m) distance 7km, ascend 610m, descend 207m, duration 4/5 hrs after breakfast, we start to trek steeply uphill on stone staircases for about 20 minutes from where the trail is flatter. we will have several hide and seek opportunities on the mountain with the great views of nuptse, everest, lhotse, peak38, amadablam, kangtega, thamserku, kusumkanguru, kwangde, khumbila and tawache within 360 degrees. we drop down to the river bank where we have our lunch and then we have climb to tengboche. tengboche is one of the holiest places in the khumbu everest region with the biggest monastery. overnight at lodge. day 07 : trek to pheriche (4360m) distance 8.5km, ascend 396m, descend 65m, duration 4/5 hrs after breakfast, the walk starts gently downhill until dibuche village (a nunnery). walking on the flat for about 20 minutes takes us to a bridge across imja river. we then trek all the way to pheriche passing through pangboche and somare village. pheriche is the windiest valley and it has the high altitude clinic. overnight at lodge. day 08 : acclimatization day in pheriche we can hike around the dingboche village or just relax at the lodge depending on our physical fitness. in the afternoon, it is worthwhile to visiting the clinic where the specialists give a lecture about high altitude. overnight at lodge. day 09 : trek to lobuche (4930m) distance 9km, ascend 570m, descend 0m, duration 4/5 hrs we follow the glacial moraine on a flat trail for about one hour when we reach the changrima glacier, all the way uphill until the duglah pass. this is a very moving memorial place to many mountaineers and sherpas who have lost their lives on the mountains in the khumbu region. the trail then goes gently uphill until lobuche. overnight at lodge. day 10 : trek to gorakshep (5180m) then carry on to everest base camp (5360m) after lunch and back to gorakshep for overnight stay distance 10km, ascend 435m, descend 185m, duration 6/7 hrs after breakfast, we follow the moraine all the way gently uphill to gorakshep. we cross the changrima glacier before lunch at gorakshep. we then carry on to everest base camp, all gradually uphill and then retrace our steps back to gorakshep for overnight stay. day 11 : early morning excursion to kala pattar (5545m) and back to gorakshep and trek back to pheriche after breakfast distance 13km, ascend 365m, descend 1185m, duration 6/7 hrs early in the morning we start to climb the mountain kala pattar (5545m) to see the sunrise as it is one of the best vantage points for viewing everest and the surrounding peaks up close. trek back to gorakshep for breakfast and then trek back to pheriche. overnight at lodge. day 12 : back to namche bazaar distance
